The project is for the development of a post-graduate program directed at developing professional electrical traction infrastructure engineers capable of being granted engineering authority. The program will be integrated with and support the competency-based and systems assurance framework being developed by Australian rail organisations.

This project builds on the scoping study (4-112) which identified the need for the course and the general structure and content required.

This proposed structure comprises of individual modules and courses/subjects that build towards a masters or a graduate certificate.

An outstanding aspect of the project is the collaboration between many academics of diverse background from 2 universities and industry experts with a common goal of understanding and recording the fundamental knowledge underpinning this key rail system competency.
