A recent review of rail qualifications by the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) has developed a new framework of qualifications for occupational groups such as Infrastructure Workers and Rail Operations. These qualifications are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework at Level 2 and 3. Taking information from a range of internal and external bodies, this review involved evaluating, rewriting or developing new units of competency plus developing the competence assessment tools. The rail industry is keen to begin using these new qualifications frameworks, but recognises that successful implementation requires the development of national curriculum and training package. Using the units of competence and assessment outcomes developed by TLISC, this project will plan and implement an analysis of training needs, revise/develop a training needs, revise/develop a training curriculum and produce training materials for the occupation of Rail Infrastructure Worker. This new national training curriculum will blend with the TLISC qualification to form a complete package for rail organisations and training providers. To provide for effective training, the project would also include implementation workshops.
